Unveiling new LCMS features to UK audience at BETT

Visitors to the 2009 edition of BETT, the world's largest educational technology event, will be able to get a first-hand glimpse of some exciting new features in the dominKnow Learning Content Management System (dominKnow LCMS).

BETT - once known as the British Educational and Training Technology show, but now just going by the shorter acronym alone - saw almost 29,000 visitors walk the aisles at the Olympia facility in London, UK. And we're excited to be at booth SW 30 in the software area to show off the latest developments in the dominKnow LCMS.

Topping the list of new features is an inline image editing tool accessible directly within the dominKnow LCMS's authoring tool. The image editing tool allows users to crop, resize and rotate images, as well as adjust image hue, saturation and even work with effects. All in all, the tool provides all of the image editing functions the vast majority of e-learning projects might require, eliminating the need for and expense of a desktop image editing tool for most dominKnow LCMS users. Consider the cost of desktop editing tools at $700 per user. That means the inline image editor will save a 5-person team $3,500, and a 10-person team $7,000 in capital costs.

Another new feature being unveiled at BETT is a polygonal hot spot tool. Hot spot buttons can now easily be added to an image in almost any shape, allowing for the development of very customized and specific interactions. Creating an exploration exercise to identify the various parts in a schematic drawing now only requires an image of the schematic and a few minutes' time in the LCMS authoring tool, for example.

BETT also gives us a chance to show off the dominKnow LCMS's increased support for mobile learning. Building upon the foundations of our iPhone and iPod Touch support, we have increased the number of devices that can take advantage of learning created in the dominKnow LCMS. It seems pretty appropriate to be on the road and bragging about mobile learning!

BETT runs from Wednesday, Jan. 14 to Saturday, Jan. 17 at Olympia. Drop by booth SW 30 if you're in the neighbourhood!
