dominKnow LCMS 5.2 launched at annual GeoLearning user's conference this week

"Remember the e-learning!"

This new battle cry has replaced the classic "Remember the Alamo!" this week in San Antonio as the GeoLearning 2008 Summit on Learning & Performance has rolled into town.

Today marked the official release of version 5.2 of the dominKnow Learning Content Management System (LCMS), and the Summit was a great place to mark the occasion. dominKnow Learning Systems is the platinum sponsor of the event, honouring the six-year partnership between the two companies.

The Summit's opening keynote speech was presented by Chris Howard of Bersin & Associates, who focused on the successes and achievements of High Impact Learning Organizations, based on data collected by the firm earlier this year. Of particular interest to us here at dominKnow was that of the list of 18 Best Practices of such organizations, the ability to share and reuse learning content was the fifth item on the list, following such key characteristics as a commitment to a learning culture and the integration of learning with performance management, for example. Indeed, the sharing and reusing of learning content, according to Howard's data, reflected a 29% relative improvement in business impact for such organizations, also right behind the 30% relative improvement in business impact provided by an organization's learning culture and the integration of learning with performance management.

Also on tap this afternoon was our own LCMS Tips, Tricks and Best Practices session, which included strategies such as our reference tool and application programming interface for re-using LCMS-based content outside of traditional online courses, a discussion of the uses and possibilities around adaptive learning as well as a sneak peek at some of the new features being launched in version 5.2 of the dominKnow LCMS, especially the new feature set in the LCMS's authoring tool. These features include a new template service, the ability to record narration directly to a page using your computer's microphone, and a new set controls that allow non-programmers to use events on a course page to control course navigation such as locking down the forward and back buttons.

A big highlight of day one was the awards luncheon, with Sales Performance International winning the Best Use of LCMS award, sponsored by dominKnow Learning Systems. Rick Judson of SPI accepted the award, which was well deserved. And long-time dominKnow LCMS user Jean Avison of Wells Fargo's Treasury Management division picked up an award for Best Use of Learning Content.

Congratulations go out to both Jean and Rick for these honours!
